Excursion 1—Let the wonderful vista unfold as you enter the highland. Free time in Fort Williams, in the shadow of Britain’s highest mountains Ben Nevis before heading north passing impressive Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most photographed castle in Scotland. We will continue our drive to our overnight hotel on or near Skye.
Excursion 2 -—Scenic drive across Skye to catch the mid morning sailing to North Uist, a relatively flat island covered with peat bogs, low hills and lochans. More than half the land is covered by water, making North Uist a birdwatchers' paradise. Afternoon spent touring the Uists passing numerous tiny lochs and beaches before we check-in at the Dark Island Hotel.
Excursion 3—After breakfast we board the sailing to the largest of the Hebridean Islands – Harris. A rugged landscape of moorland, deep-sea lochs and mountains. Against this backdrop is a proud history dating back to prehistoric times. We travel along the spine of Harris, stopping in Tarbert for a Weaving Demonstration of the world famous Harris Twee, then onto Lewis with next 2 nights in the island’s Capital Stornoway.
Excursion 4—Full day tour of Lewis, with an experienced island guide, including the impressive 5,000 year old standing stones of Callanish (Scotland’s Stonehenge, but older). Ancient thatched “ Blackhouses”, typical of crofting settlements. Entry included. Carloway Broch, a fortified tower dating back over 2,000 years, Whalebone Arch and the beaches of Dalmore & Dalbeg.
Excursion 5—We catch the 2½ hour sailing to Ullapool followed by a glorious drive across the sweep of the Highlands to Inverness with free time in the Highland capital. Continue south through picturesque Speyside and into Perthshire for our final nights stay. (Hotel to be confirmed)
