Wednesday – The Italian Palace of Kingston Lacy is a graceful country mansion set in stunning formal gardens with extensive parkland. It is home to a wide variety of horticulture. Not only does it have a Japanese Garden complete with authentic tea house and Kitchen Garden but is also home to beautiful detailed carvings, intimate family souvenirs and paintings from many famous artistes such as Rubens, Van Dyck and Brueghel. It also has the largest privately-owned collection of Egyptian artefacts in the world. After a lunchbreak we continue to Wimborne, whilst here visit the Minster, a beautiful building dating back 1300 years or more. With more fine examples of 15th, 16th and 17th century buildings to be found within the town, it really is an explorer’s paradise. Enjoy some free time here, returning to our hotel in the late afternoon.
Thursday – Today we visit the Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and Swannery. The gardens are in a wooded and sheltered valley, leading down towards the sea at Chesil Beach, this combination produces a microclimate in which more delicate plants can grow. Then to Abbotsbury Swannery this is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans. A visit to this beautiful place is considered to be one of the best things to do in Dorset.

Friday - Travelling back home with a lunch break at Burnham on Sea
