Looe is situated on both sides of the River Looe, the two towns of East and West Looe have been spanned by a bridge since medieval times. East Looe with its pretty streets leading you to the main beach, bordered by the banjo pier the harbour is still home to its own fishing fleet which return on the high tide. West Looe and Hannafore are popular for the beaches and rock pools with wonderful views out to Looe Island

Tour Highlights

Sunday – As we travel to Looe, we will stop for lunch in Exeter. There will be time to visit the magnificent Cathedral or explore the town. Arriving at our hotel late afternoon giving you time to relax before your evening meal.

Monday – Today we start our tour at Boscastle. A picturesque natural harbour and village, the Elizabethan quay sits in an impressive amphitheatre of steep cliffs and is home to quaint stone built cottages. Then onto Tintagel, a town linked with the legends and myths of King Arthur. Giving you stunning views over the Celtic Sea. There will be the opportunity for you to visit Tintagel Castle, but be aware that there are steep climbs and steps. To complete our scenic tour we continue onto Padstow, a pretty fishing village with stunning views over the Atlantic coast.

Tuesday – A day of leisure in Looe. You could visit the Old Guildhall and Goal or even The Monkey Sanctuary. If the weather is fine you could take one of the many boat cruises from the harbour or simply enjoy seafront and Banjo Pier. Or why not take a short bus journey to Polperro, a largely unspoilt fishing village that has a unique tidal pool and may local art galleries.

Wednesday –. Today we start our tour at the most southerly part of England, Lizard Point. A lighthouse famous for its local serpentine stone, unique metamorphic rock which is dark green veined with red and white. Then we travel through Penzance overlooking Mounts Bay with beautiful views of St Michael’s Mount. Then we travel to the most westerly point Lands’ End. Here you will have free time with the famous signpost, being on the most photographed sights. Finally, we travel to St Ives where you will have free time to explore this subtropical paradise full of palm trees and golden sands. You can travel through the narrow streets to the beach passing many of the art galleries and maybe calling through Barbara Hepworth Museum. Why not sit on the beach and indulge in a Cornish pasty or ice cream, looking over the yellow beach of St Ives.

Thursday – Today we visit the capital town of Cornwall, Truro. Where you could visit the Royal Cornwall Museum, or explore the city steeped in history and awe-inspiring twin spired cathedral, or visit the lemon quay. We continue then to Falmouth which is steeped in maritime history. Finally returning to the hotel, if time permits, via Fowey, a beautiful medieval fishing village.

Friday – Travelling home we will stop at Burnham on Sea for a break, before arriving home in the afternoon.
