Monday – On our journey to Sidmouth we will be stop for a lunch break at Weston-Super-Mare.
Tuesday – The City of Exeter lies on the River Exe, dating back to Roman England. The city walls surround the impressive Gothic Exeter Cathedral. One of the finest cathedrals in England and considered to be the finest examples of Gothic architecture anywhere. The Historic Quayside is a very popular part of the town, with its fascinating warehouses and quayside architecture. In the afternoon, we travel to Exmouth. Exmouth developed as a resort in Georgian times and was once the most select seaside resort in Britain, home to such famous people as Lady Nelson and Lady Byron. We will take a cruise on the River Exe so you can admire the wonderful Jurassic Coastline. (admissions included)
Wednesday – A leisure day, you could maybe visit the Sidmouth Museum, the Park Hill Lamas or book tickets for a show at the Manor Pavilion Theatre. A local bus can take you to The Donkey Sanctuary, discover some wonderful new friends, hear their stories and see how good care has restored these beautiful animals.
Thursday –Today we visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum, which houses the largest collection of Royal Navy Air memorabilia. (admissions included) With over 30 historic aircraft, and well over 30,000 artefacts showcasing the history of both the service and personal records of those who have served our country. An opportunity to see how the Air Arm of the British Navy has contributed to the defence of our country. From here we visit Yeovil, a Roman market town in South Somerset, it has a varied history dating from Saxon times. Now it famous for the manufacture of military helicopters. Our final stop is the pretty town of Sherborne, with a superb Abbey, stunning medieval buildings and two castles to explore.
Friday – On our journey home we will have a lunchbreak at Burnham on Sea.
